Best Practices for Designing a MySpace Website

By Dalvin Rumsey

The online community called MySpace intends to offer its members the opportunity of creating websites for the other members of the community to view, websites that are also hosted by MySpace. The search engine provided by this community allows visitors to find people with certain characteristics among the members.

The first step is to create a MySpace account. You must only provide the required information in order to become a member and of course agree with the terms of service of the community. It all comes down to supplying your full name, a valid email address and a password made up of alpha and numeric characters. That's it! The confirmation email will be sent to your email address. This email is very important, as it contains the link by which you will have to activate your new account.

Understanding the terms of service is quite important, as the violation of these terms could result in the member's account being deleted or, even worse, legal action can be taken against the individual. So, should you be under 14 years old, you must say exactly what your age is. A MySpace member has the duty of keeping the secret upon the chosen password. Unless you have received an authorization from MySpace, you may not use this website for commercial purposes. Copyrighted material must not be posted on the website, provided that there is a permission to do that.

It was not very complicated! You just have to take the time to go through these terms of service, and this applies to any website or program you may get your hands on!

We have now gone through all the necessary steps prior to actually designing a MySpace website. This is in most people's opinion, the most interesting stages of membership, as you are free to design the website in any way you want. One does not need solid knowledge of HTML in order to be able to do that, and, best of all, no special skills for website design are required. The homepage must though include the Edit Profile, Account Settings, Add / Edit Photos, Add/Change Videos, Manage Calendar, Manage Blog and the Manage Address Book links.

The rest of the website's design and features is limited only by the person's imagination and design skills. It is as easy as this! So get online and give it a try!
