Spider From Alfa Romeo Arrives In New Zealand

By Jenny McLane

Just in time for the New Zealand spring season, the newest version of the prestigious Alfa Romeo Spider model has arrived. And just like spring, this new version is bringing along with it new features, and a new type of performance that car lovers would surely be gaping at.

One thing that you can notice with the Alfa Romeo Spider is that this vehicle seems to be quite attached to how the original unit looked like. In fact, despite the vehicle sporting and undergoing various changes, the style and design of the vehicle itself does not change. Only minute changes in the style and in its Alfa Romeo car parts have been tampered with. However, most changes can be found under the hood of this exemplary vehicle.

Such a behavior from the automotive company that creates this vehicle is explained by Lawrie Malatios. Malatios is the general manager for the brand in the New Zealand area. He does say, "Alfa Romeo's core values are performance and style. The Spider is the embodiment of these values. Originally the quickest way to achieve performance was a light, open top body that was sleek and aerodynamic to maximize the available potential from the engine and chassis, in other words, the original sports car. Today, the new Spider is the epitome of the Alfa Romeo, with performance, style and ability in depth. It remains the very definition of Alfa Romeo."

At present, you can find two versions of the Alfa Romeo Spider. One starts with a base retail price of $81,990. And this one would be holding engine options that range from the 2.2 liter JTS engine with four cylinders and has the capacity to create 136 kW to the 3.2 liter JTS V6 engine that has the capacity to produce some 191 units of kW.

Aside from such engine choices for the vehicle, the Alfa Romeo Spider also comes with six speed manual gearboxes to add in the power. There are also some differentials installed with the vehicle and one of these is the Torsen C unit which is self locking and has been mounted at the very center of the engine system.
