Lowering Costs For Vehicle Instrument Panel Showed Off At 2006 Convergence

By Kenneth McKinley

Who would not want to be able to save more on costs and expenses for their vehicles? Who would not want to have that extra cash to purchase those high quality Volvo 160 series parts that you have been eyeing or those new Volvo accessories that your automobile does need to look even grander?

Well, it looks like the Delphi Corporation has come up with a solution so vehicle makers and manufacturers could actually lower the cost of assembling a vehicle's instrument panel center stack. Of course, if you do think about it, it would seem like the solution would be only for those vehicle and auto makers. However, if you further look into the situation, that is only when you would be able to realize that in the end, customers and consumers would also be benefiting greatly from this for they could more or less purchase vehicles that come with an even lower cost.

What Delphi did was to create a simplified assembly of an instrument panel center stack. And they also made sure that this one would be only made and constructed in just one piece which would allow vehicle makers to cut down on their costs. Compared to installing a center stack that has components that are separate from each other, an instrument panel that has been created to be one whole thing would only mean lesser expenses.

If you would like to take a good look at how this one could be done, you may want to head out to the Cobo Center's Wayne Hall during the 2006 Convergence show which will be held in Detroit. And when you are the location, start moving towards the exhibit number 100 and that is where you would be able to take a glimpse as to what this new one from Delphi would be all about.

Jugal Vijayvargiya is the product business unit vice president for the company's controls and security channel and he does inform the public by saying, "In an increasingly crowded and fierce market, we are continuously looking for ways to help our customers ad value to their products. Our Integrated Instrument Panel Center Stack is another great example of how we are focusing on innovation and up integration to help make our customers more competitive."

You see, what Delphi actually did was to replace all the separate wires, switches, and modules of any vehicle's radio, entertainment, communications, HVAC, accessories, and other functional switches. They merged all that into just one module. The result is a great reduction in costs of wires and even in mass of the wires. Makers would also benefit from easier assembly.
