Health in the Old Age

By the processes of Nature, we become old. As we advance in age, we are faced with the problems of deteriorating health. This is compounded by retardation in the functions of our brain also. It is essential that we do whatever we can to face the eventualities that arise due to these health related problems. Aging is inevitable and we can't do much about it. But we certainly can take at least some actions which will help us to tackle the problems of health in our old age.

1. The first thing to do. The first proactive action that we should take is to have a good health insurance Package. This will help us to meet the rising costs of healthcare .We shall do our home work about choosing a package that suits us best, considering our personal and individual requirements.
2. What shall we do when the functions start to deteriorate? This is a consequence of the natural process of ageing. However we can mitigate it to some extent by keeping ourselves as active and engaged as possible.

A few suggestions.
a. Keep a personal journal. Record what you did during the day. Include a report on your income and expenses. Do a little calculation every day. It shall help our brain functioning well enough.
b. Engage in local community and social activities. There will be many such as those organized by the Church, the local club for seniors etc.
c. Do some light exercise. Walk a mile every day in the morning and evening. This keeps our limbs functioning well, accentuates our health and brain as well.
d. Do some activities that need a little scheduling and thinking. This will help stimulate the brain.
e. Take regularly the prescribed medications for old age problems such as blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, prostate, constipation.You may not need all of them. But it is important to take what has been prescribed. Some medications can not be avoided as one ages, but general good health can be maintained by controlling diet and having light exercise.
f. Have your medical check up on a regular basis.
g. Avoid alcohol as far as possible.
h. Control your diet. Avoid fatty and not-easily digestible food stuffs.
i. Generally keep yourself in a happy frame of mind.
j. Do not worry either about the past or the future. Live in the present, enjoying every moment.
k. Have Global insurance medical to make sure you stay healthy
l. Health is real wealth. So keep it up.
