Crowd Prefers Small, Refined, Sporty Cars
By Jennifer Dylan
The recent automotive reports reflect the shift of auto enthusiasts to small, refined and sporty-looking cars. As an aftermath of this striking shift, automakers are expanding their offering of significantly compact luxury crossovers and SUVs.
One of the most visible small cars on the road is BMW X3. The car is the little sibling of X5, a high-performance mid-size vehicle. In fact, it uses some of the vital BMW X5 auto parts to boost its performance. Since X3's launch in the year 2004, BMW has sold a total of 83,500 units of said car. The sales figures have triggered other automakers to come up with their own version of the car.
One mighty rival of X3 is Acura RDX, a 5-passenger crossover that has been made available since the mid part of August. Acura RDX is also designed to respond to the driving needs of urbanites as well as the suburbanites who prefer a more sporty and stylish wagon with all-wheel drive. It is also designed for couples who haul lifestyle equipment. With the busy and complicated city lifestyle, Acura RDX can be an ideal companion.
RDX uses some of Acura MDX auto parts. The latter is a bigger vehicle which will be given a significant makeover this year. RDX, on one hand, will be the first turbocharged Acura which will be offered in the United States. It will be equipped with a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine which can generate more power than BMW X3. X3 is equipped with a 3-liter, inline six-cylinder engine rated at 225 hp.
Acura RDX' engine produces a smooth but powerful performance minus noticeable turbo lag. It delivers power to the wheels by way of an exceptional all-wheel-drive system which can be maneuvered to control the amount of torque and force depending on the road condition.
Aside from BMW X3 and Acura RDX, mighty small cars on the road include Infiniti FX35, Infiniti FX35 and Mazda CX-7. They offer various functionalities and amenities for less.
