The California Association of Judgment Professionals Welcomes You

By Trevor Grant

The judgment recovery profession is nothing new, but ever so quickly becoming a growing industry that provides a much needed service to cities everywhere. Judgment recovery is also increasingly becoming a work-at-home business for the many of those who are now choosing it as a career. The right resources and information are absolutely necessary to succeed in this industry.

For those who start their own JR business, a lot of time is usually spent searching for resources and even more time is spent adapting to the learning curve of successfully collecting judgments. Luckily, there are several courses available that can help get your feet off the ground and adapt yourself quickly. There is one lesser known resource, however, that can go a long way in helping your judgment recovery business become a successful one. This is The California Association of Judgment Professionals (CAJP).

The CAJP was formed in 1999 with a purpose of sharing ideas and resources in order to help other JR professionals more effectively enforce court judgments. It is an organization based in California, but due to growing popularity it now opens membership nationwide and even internationally with quarterly meetings.

The following are the goals of the CAJP:
Foster professional development and business growth Continuing education Cost-savings through the use of combined resources Networking opportunities with other judgment collection associates
Since its founding, the CAJP has grown to over 130 judgment enforcement specialists throughout California and continental U.S. As with many professional organizations, new members often have varying experience and knowledge. All new CAJP members are required to take a certification test, prove their business identity and business status, and to pay their CAJP dues. In addition, CAJP members adhere to strict professional guidelines when collecting judgments.

Joining the CAJP is an excellent way to "pick the brains" of the veteran professionals, some of who are even the pioneers of judgment collection. Probably the biggest advantage to joining, though, is to become aware of JR practices, not just in your state, but nationally as well.

The CAJP is an all-volunteer organization and if you are a JR professional, whether a rookie or a seasoned professional, then we more than welcome you to join our association. We encourage participation as committee members, participation in regional lunch meetings and assistance with continuing education events. We, hopefully, look forward to having you join our other members in maintaining the professional practices and high standards the CAJP has come to represent.
