Bettors bet on sports for many different reasons. Some bet for fun while some enjoy betting on their favorite team no matter the point spread. And then there are those that bet solely to make money. Believe it or not, the latter is the least but there are many who do make money consistently and few who even make a living at it!
You may consider yourself a member of the first two but you can quickly learn how to change your ways and transform yourself into a savvy full time bettor. Most bettors make the mistake of not doing research and using the information that is right at their fingertips to help them succeed in the world of betting. Below we have tips to help you increase your winnings.
1 – Money Management – Without a doubt this is the most important aspect of NFL football betting and most often the most neglected. First, be sure not to bet more than you can afford to lose – this is easier said than done. If you are betting on sports it is imperative to set aside a portion of money for betting and to stick with that bankroll win OR lose. Winning is not a jog – if you bet your entire bankroll on one game and you lose you are more likely to try and chase after your losses. If you spread your bankroll on several small bets, you are more likely to profit in the long run. Keep in mind there are no locks in the sports betting business and any team can lose at any given time. Often times wins and loses come in streaks and can be profitable to ride out the wave.
2- Number Shopping – The next aspect of sports betting is shopping for numbers. There will be different discrepancies in the numbers on different sports books. For example, the NFL will have similar numbers at most betting shops. However on college sports and daily sports like the NBA, you can find different lines at different sports books.
3- Never Gamble when Intoxicated – Ever wonder why Vegas happily gives away free drinks when you are in the casino? Alcohol clouds judgment and you are more likely to make a rash decision and throw around your money more so than if you were sober and in control of the situation.
4- Research – Bettors have the advantage of research which is something sports books are not able to do. They must stay on top of every sport and every game. The best way to win money sports betting is to create a niche and follow it. If you become an expert you have a good chance at beating the house. There is a wealth of information on the net, use it to your advantage.
