Promoting yourself as a Content Writer

By Vivek Sharma

Content writing is the one job which can even be done while sitting at your home. But that is only possible if you have ample of quality work and healthy list of clients. It's easy to become a content writer but tough to build and maintain that image. Nowadays content writers or even copywriters are proud to tag themselves as writers. But reality has some other face. Not anyone can qualify to become a content writer as you have to prove your mettle and also showcase that you are capable. Ironically content writing job isn't that lucrative as content writers are hardly paid $5 to $10 per article and moreover they also don't own a right over them. Thus, it is wise to have your own market so that you not only earn more but also help others in their earnings.

But you'll be amazed to know that majority of the content writing work is outsourced to India. The only reason is that command over language and the way they play with the words. That's why content writing India is the highly searched keyword in various search engines whether it is Yahoo, Google, MSN, AltaVista, HotBot and many more. But before getting into the market there are few check points required to promote yourself as a content writer. So, those prime check points are as follows:

• Design your own website: If you are into content writing then having a website gives you a cutting edge over your rivals. Your website is your presence over the internet and it also marks your authentication. Your designed website should carry your rates, sample articles, and, if possible, references from clients whom you have done content writing for. And if possible those presented articles should be from diverse topics as this shows you are not only flexible but you can also cover a wide variety of assignments.
• Webmaster Forums: After designing your website, the next task is that start advertising your services in various webmaster forums. It won't be wrong to say that; the world is full of content-hungry webmasters who will hire you to write content for them. And mind you they'll pay you more in comparison to various bidding websites. Also this helps you in building a reputation and having a good forum reputation will cause webmasters to chase you for your services and also, allowing you to charge higher prices than otherwise possible.
• Promoting Articles: Many times it has been seen that content writers write articles but don't know what to do with that. So they either save it in their computer or in a disc. But there's another way too. That is promoting your articles. Now you can easily promote and market your articles by submitting them to various article submission websites. They offer you free submission along with mentioning of your business site in the Author Bio box. By this way you can capture and promote your articles worldwide.
• Target the massive websites: After doing years of content writing, you can present and submit your work to various big websites such as about.com, wikipedia.com, ask.com and many more. This makes you get the maximum exposure and simultaneously you are paid for quality articles. But mind you they only hire the best talent.

Thus, if you follow these steps, you not only get the required recognition of your work but also you are making content writing work more lucrative.
