Ford On Pace To Double Russian Sales

By Jay Stevens

Five new Ford vehicles were recently displayed at the Moscow Motor Show 2006. This is to intensify the eminence of Ford Motor Company in the Russian territory. The new cars presented to the press exude flexibility, style and superb driving dynamics.

The vehicles presented by Ford include all-new S-MAX which went on sale in Russia last July. Said vehicle introduces kinetic design. Next to S-MAX is Explorer. Ford Explorer body parts are famed for their off-road capabilities. Ford Transit, a commercial vehicle also graced Moscow Motor Show for the first time. Focus Coupé-Cabriolet, a four-seater car that features the famous retractable hardtop was also displayed. Finally, the new Ford-built Galaxie, which uses innovative and stylish Ford Galaxie parts, has also graced the motor show for the very first time. Said car will go on sale this month.

During the Moscow Motor Show, John Fleming, CEO, Ford of Europe noted, "The Moscow Motor Show is a perfect place to showcase Ford's tremendous success in Russia. Our industry-pioneering plant in St. Petersburg has built more than 100,000 new Ford Focus cars since it opened in 2002. This year, we fully expect sales of all Ford brand cars and commercial vehicles to double to around 120,000 units. The great products which we plan to introduce in Russia in 2007 and beyond will build on this exciting momentum."

It was in the Moscow Motor Show where Ford presented their iosis concept car inspired by kinetic design. It is Ford's latest accolade to its innovative and domineering vehicle manufacturing technique.

Henrik Nenzen, President of Ford in Russia said, "The breadth of vehicles on display at the Ford stand demonstrates how serious we are about fulfilling our ambitious growth plans for Russia. To support our customers all over Russia, Ford actively develops its dealer network. As of August, we have 113 dealers and sub-dealers, offering all kinds of activities -- sales only, service only, as well as sales and service. In addition, we have four commercial vehicle specialists and three dealers in Belarus. Our financial programs on retail credit and operation leasing are also now available."
