A day spent at Bay Beach Amusement Park is simply a day of delight

By Andrew Regan

If you're after some good old-fashioned family fun, Bay Beach Amusement Park in Green Bay, Wisconsin is the perfect place for you and your family to visit. Located near the mouth of the Fox River in Wisconsin, Bay Beach Amusement Park has been providing children and adults alike with pure fun since it first opened its gates in the late 1800's.

The amusement park, having acquired its name from the famous 'Bay Beach' which runs along the east end of the park, has had a rich history from its creation through to its ongoing development. When a young entrepreneur by the name of Mitchell Nejedlo bought a strip of land in 1892, he merely had plans to build a private beach resort. But before long, he had also gone on to construct a dance hall, a bar, a bathhouse, and even bought a steamboat to transport people. Moreover, he began renting swimsuits for ten cents apiece to accommodate the throngs of people who wanted to splash around in the bay. It wasn't long before the expansion of Bay Beach Amusement Park was well under way, and it would prove to become a remarkable success. The park has even hosted a number of famous concerts, political rallies, and dances, such as the establishment's tercentennial celebrations where Franklin D. Roosevelt give a speech to thousands.

Today, Bay Beach Amusement Park has a number of rides and attractions for its visitors to enjoy; and while the original roller coaster which was built in 1901, and then replaced in 1929, before finally being dismantled in 1936, never made an expected comeback, there is now talk of a new coaster finally being built on park grounds. Families and groups frequently flock to the park's many picnic sites to have summer cookouts and to delve into a bit of fun and relaxation, and groups can even rent venues - such as the famed Bay Beach Pavilion - for private parties and events.

Not too far from the Bay Beach Amusement Park is the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary - a 700-acre refuge where people can feed ducks, geese and small animals. Kastle Karts and Fort Fun are also nearby, enabling families to combine the attractions of Bay Beach Amusement Park with the batting cages, mini-golf fields, paint-balling fields, and bumper boats that the other sites have to offer.

One will quickly catch on to the fact that aside from great, old fashioned fun, Bay Beach Amusement Park provides amazingly old-fashioned prices. In fact, the park is well-known for its ability to amuse and entertain without costing a great deal to families - ensuring that rides, games, and even the cotton candy, popcorn, and hotdogs, can be purchased throughout the day for ongoing enjoyment.

If you'll be visiting the amusement park from out of town, there are loads of hotel options available in the Green Bay area, such as the Hilton Garden Inn. Why not frequent the park over the span of a few days to make certain that you and the kids have the opportunity to experience all the rides and attractions at a leisurely pace.

So if you're looking for a great way to spend some quality time with your family, Bay Beach Amusement Park is undoubtedly the place to go. You'll not only have great affordable family fun, but you'll leave with some priceless memories.
