Watch out before you buy 'Generic Viagra'

Impotence is a common factor in men especially above 40 yrs. Research estimates there are 30 million American men who suffer from impotence. And for a substantial proportion of men, Viagra can restore potency. And that is why Viagra has enjoyed widespread popularity since its launch in early 1998.
Viagra was originally developed for the treatment of hypertension and for men suffering from chest pain. The generic name of Viagra is Sildenafil. Sildenafil citrate as heart medication did not show good results. However, based on published information about its other side effects Pfizer researchers began to look at it as a treatment for Erectile Dysfunction.
And the magic blue pill became an instant hit to treat impotence and to treat Erectile Dysfunction. It is the first approved non-surgical treatment of ED that does not have to be either injected or inserted directly into the penis to achieve and maintain an erection.
Viagra, though, should be taken with proper consultation from the physician. It is extremely important that problems like diabetes, heart disease, blood pressure problems or any other disease should be reported to the doctor before starting on Viagra. Men taking Nitrates in any form should not be treated with Viagra.
Some drugs can alter the way Viagra works in the body or vice versa. For this reason some drugs are not recommended for use while taking Viagra. The drugs can interact in such a way that they could cause serious side effects.
Ongoing treatment with Viagra proves very expensive (approx. $10 per pill) and Viagra has been left out in the list of health insurers. Many started opting for cheap Generic Viagra's which were much cheaper than the Pfizer Viagra and was easily available on various internet pharmacies.
The patent law does not allow any other manufacturer to manufacture generic form of Viagra in the US as Pfizer still holds the patent and a generic or any other brand of Viagra will be only possible when the patent for Viagra with Pfizer expires.
Any form of Generic Viagra sold in the US is illegal. FDA has yet to approve the generic form of Viagra. British scientists studied Generic Viagra pills sold online. They found that over half of these pills could be counterfeit.
Before buying Generic Viagra online make sure that you don't buy the product because it is cheap as it may not be of the same quality and the effects may not be the same.
