Negotiating Safer Sex By Amanda Johnson
The most difficult task for a HIV patient is, telling his/her partner about it. It depends on the quality of relationship the couple is having. If the couple is in love it is mostly revealed, but If it is strickly 'only sex' business than it becomes more serious. One should be honest to their partner about his or her health conditions. It is acceptable in some countries that you can hide the facts, but in some countries it is a criminal act, and punishable.
Sex is fun. But one carelessness can cause you, your life. It is always safe to carry condoms, if you are expecting any type of sex. You must remember that STDs and HIV can spread through the body fluids, either by oral sex, vaginal discharge, or blood or even breast milk. Oral sex is considered the safer but if there are wounds, bleeding gums, or any cuts inside the mouth or lips, it can transmitt the virus to the other body. It is not neccasary that it can spread through only intercourse. So, it is safe to keep condoms for anytime sex activity.
Communicate with your partner about the high risk sexually transmitted diseases. Discuss how you are going to keep yourself safe, while enjoying the intimacy. Talk about it with your friends. Make sure that you are having safe sex. Insist on using a condom before any sexual act. Tell your partner that it is for the safety of, both of you. Make it a practice, without offending each-other. Share it as fun. Show that you love and care. Sex to you is as important and fun, as it is for your partner. Create some romantic adventures to make your partner more free and loving. A small gesture of care can save you both from the life-time tension. It is not only men's duty to play the protective figure. Women can also be equally responsible. If a man is not feeling easy every time to use a condom, a woman should use it. Female condoms are also good to keep these viruses away. Introduce some different kinds of condoms each time, try new flavours, make it as interesting as possible. Make it a habit to use.
Saving your life can save more lives in future. A HIV carrier mother can infect her unborn child. It is bound that she will deliever a HIV positive child.
