Pregnenolone - The brain and memory Power Hormone

Pregnenolone - The brain and memory Power Hormone

Pregnenolone is not a steroid but a steroid hormone precursor manufactured in the body from cholesterol. Pregnenolone is converted in the liver to DHEA and Progesterone (and ultimately other hormones such as estrogen, and testosterone). It is important to note that, as we age, the body's natural pregnenolone levels decrease. Therefore, supplemental pregnenolone may play an important role in today's aging population supporting lean body mass, strength, immune health as well as bone and cardiovascular health.

Pregnenolone would probably be beneficial for both aging men and women and, like DHEA, drops in effectiveness profoundly with age, although age-related "norms" for pregnenolone have not been as clearly established as for DHEA.

Pregnenolone in Men

Pregnenolone is a natural hormone made from cholesterol in the body and is a precursor for the production of ALL the human steroid hormones, including DHEA, Progesterone, Estrogens, Testosterone, Cortisone, Cortisol and Aldosterone. Since it is not a steroid hormone, just a precursor, it is extremely safe and has very few side effects. Pregnenolone has a balancing ability to adjust other hormone levels as needed by the body.
Pregnenolone can help improve memory, reduce allergies and arthritic inflammation, improve mood and energy and can act as a detoxicant. The body's own production is reduced with aging, stress, depression, hypothyroidism and toxin exposure.

Pregnenolone in Women

Pregnenolone can help improve memory, reduce allergies and arthritic inflammation, improve mood and energy and can act as a detoxicant. The body's own production is reduced with aging, stress, depression, hypothyroidism and toxin exposure.

Benefits of Pregnenolone
Some people find pregnenolone improves energy levels, vision, memory, clarity of thinking, wellbeing, and often sexual enjoyment or libido. Pregnenolone may be considered a good brain enhancer in those who are deficient. Studies in rodents show pregnenolone to be one of the most effective and powerful memory boosters. Pregnenolone may increase levels of acetylcholine in the hippocampus and other memory regions in the brain. Some women report lessening of hot flashes or premenstrual symptoms. However, pregnenolone is not risk-free.

Pregnenolone can improve memory. Pregnenolone seems to reduce the excess release of, or reduce the negative effects of the adrenal stress steroid hormone, Cortisol. Cortisol is toxic at high levels. Stress causes the release of excess Cortisol which can damage memory formation, retrieval and learning ability.

The body's own production of Pregnenolone is reduced with aging, stress, depression, hypothyroidism and toxin exposure. Pregnenolone may be a general "anti-stress" metabolite, which, however, may not always be present in our bodies at optimal levels, precisely because it may be used up in producing all the steroid hormones, not leaving enough to fulfill its stress buffer role. Hence the need for supplementation.
Pregnenolone then modulates chemical reactions, calcium-protein bindings, gene activation, protein turnover, and the intra-cellular distribution of compounds and enzyme reactions involved in the storage and retrieval of memory.
Pregnenolone is used in many of the following ways:

- Enhances memory

- Supports normal sexual response and performance

- Immune Enhancement

- Normal mood and energy

- Life Extension

- Normal hormone levels

- Normal immune functions

- Normal nervous system functions

- Enhances well-being
