Motorola testing finger writing recognition on new mobile phones

The new technology from Motorola is set to allow mobile phone users to draft e-mails and text messages by drawing out letters on a specially designed keypad.

Finger writing technology is just one of a number of mooted developments in the market, following on from proposed developments such as voice activated security, touch screen technology, mobile TV and a host of other rumoured additions. With the continued advancement of the marketplace such developments come as no surprise with the major mobile phone manufacturers seeking to outdo each other with features and functions with each generation of handset that comes along. The addition of such features would represent a significant advancement in the functionality of the current generation of Motorola phones.

Motorola's announcement, which came at a symposium organised by the firms' R&D institute in China, could potentially change the way that text messages are composed and sent via mobile phone and has been awarded the Asian Innovation Gold Award. Rumours of mobile phone developments are not uncommon and keeping up to date with anticipated developments is best done a t a few of the tech oriented message boards. Such sites detail the latest developments in the world of mobile phones and other assorted gadgets.

For those of us who use their phones for the more traditional purposes of calling and texting, the latest developments in the mobile phone market can be a little perplexing, but every so often a development such as Motorola's comes along which could conceivable change the way that even the most basic of mobile phone users interacts with their handset. User behaviour – particularly in sectors such as the mobile phone market are governed by emerging technologies and it might not be too long before the frenetic movement of thumbs along your mobile keypad becomes a thing of the past.

With mobile phone manufacturers continually pushing the envelope and new generations of mobile phones surpassing the previous at ever decreasing intervals it might not be too long before you are carrying these new technologies around in your pocket.
