Entrepreneurship And Education

By Joshua C. Efughi

There is no doubt that entrepreneurship and education has led to the rise of certain men from the bottom of life's pyramid. It has also led to the greatness and development of certain countries of the world. In order to understand the importance of entrepreneurship and education, I will like to define the entrepreneurship and education.

What is Entrepreneurship? An Entrepreneur is an individual who accepts financial risks and undertakes a new financial ventures. It is also seen as the person who risks his capital in establishing a business which its profitability can never be determined at that time. Education is an activity that impacts knowledge or skill. Education increases the ability of an entrepreneur to learn new vital skills.

Entrepreneurship and education has contributed greatly to the development of countries such as America, China, Japan, Singapore and Nigeria. Most economy in the world today suffer continuous setback because their citizens depends on their government for everything.

Entrepreneurship and education have given people the opportunity to harness their energy towards constructive activities that contribute positively to their society. An entrepreneur can continuously be presentable in the market place if he learns to improve his skills through education.

Education empowers the entrepreneur to meet up with the challenges in business. Creativity is one of the qualities of an entrepreneur : the ability of an entrepreneur to present his ideas to the market is made possible only through education. In South Korea, students are given the opportunity invent their ideas into a product and present it to the market place.

Many entrepreneurs suffer loss after engaging in a business because they fail to acquire the necessary skill which is required to effectively strengthen their business. This skill that is acquired is called education and without it a business suffer loss. Therefore for an entrepreneur to continuously be improve his business, he has to continuously acquire education both for himself and his workers. Most growing business firms in America constantly organize business seminars for their firms; and this has a positive effect on the company's income.

The governments in America, China, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Nigeria have supported entrepreneurship in their respective country. The government of Singapore offered tax exemptions and management advice to entrepreneurs. The government of China offered inexpensive capital to entrepreneurs and also provided them with good seminars where they can interact and learn more on how to expand their business. The South Korean government encouraged young entrepreneurs by establishing business incubators to help young entrepreneurs present their ideas in the market. Some banks in Nigeria now offer loan with no interest to entrepreneurs. The United Nations is not left out as they help entrepreneurs by organizing seminars in various countries that educate entrepreneurs.

More over, rural communities are transformed into urban settlements through educated entrepreneurs. This is made possible because educated entrepreneurs are philanthropist and therefore contribute their wealth to the development of their society. History shows that men like Andrew Carnegie, John D. Rockefeller, Bill Gates and Kanu Nwankwo positively affected their environment for good. They also created job opportunities for people.
Indeed, most African countries and South American nations are under developed because entrepreneurship and education has not been given it proper place in the scheme of things. And for them to develop and meet the challenges of the time, their entrepreneurs must get proper education and be given adequate attention by their government.
