Beauty Tames the Beast

By Kinney Dancair

The movie King Kong provides an interesting perspective on modern life. In the movie, we have a timeless image of this 300-ton animal chained by chrome steel fetters to a stage in the middle of New York City. This is the image of the beast inside all of us that modern society seeks to chain and hold from coming out. We see this beast lashing out in hundreds of ugly ways in our society. From gang violence to drug addictions both legal and illegal, many of the individuals in our society don't seem to like being chained in the social order. Scams also reflect this ugliness; false advertising leads people down the path of home business instead of really helping people to work from home. Of course, there are online communities available to people that can support them in making money from home, but the scams reflect the beastly tendency to hurt.

Many of us suffer from this inability to fully express what we believe is our true self. While there may not be a one-size-fits-all solution to this problem, the classic tale reinvented in the form of King Kong gives us an enlightening possibility. What if beauty could tame the beast inside all of us? What if a beautiful life was something that every modern could claim for his or her self? I believe that such beauty is accessible by all of us. It starts, though, with choosing beauty in our everyday life. Some people have found a way to express themselves through creating their own blog. Others have used the power of spiritual teachings in their daily choices.

Your beauty lies in your truth. You find your truth by reflecting on your own sense of timelessness. Is there a part of you that has always been? If you don't know, does it seem like there is a part of you like that? Is there a place in your heart or mind that suggests to you that life is meant to be happy and joyful? There must be. For you know that the times you feel happiness and peace are the times that life seems right and wholesome. The times you feel the pains of worry, guilt, and shame are the times that you feel most wrong about life and yourself.

Your truth can be found by reflecting on those moments of peace and finding truths there. For instance, the moment that my children were born was a sacred time for me. I felt one with all that is. I felt true, bold, and righteous. When I reflect on that moment sitting here typing this article, I feel that the truth that moment brings me to right now is that I was made to serve other people. I came here to give to other people the benefit of my energies and my services. I am not here to exploit or to take, I am here to serve and support and inspire. The beauty of the truths contained in these experiences will tame the beast inside of you if you allow the beauty to reign instead of the anger in the beast.
