Declare Your Independence

By Kinney Dancair

If you are like me, then you have struggled all of your life with problem of working under the watch of other people. It is painful having every move you make monitored by someone whose superiority to you is rarely obvious or existent. It is difficult to wake up every morning and walk into a job you know that you are going to hate every moment of. If this describes you, there are ways out.

It is like the 80s film Labrynth. Did you ever see that? It was about a girl who was seeking to reclaim a child, perhaps like your inner sense of life's beautiful nature. Anyhow, in order to reclaim the child, she has to make it through this huge labrynth. Each time she gets close to the quick path to the castle some little "helper" tells her that it is most certainly the wrong way for her to go.

So it is with each of us. We sense inside that there must be a way for us to be free of the corporate ladder and the myriad of petty tyrants such a latter invites into our lives, but each time we come close to starting a home business, a little voice inside of your mind says to you: "that way won't work."

With said voice, a haunting feeling of powerless comes as well. This voice is the product of the Industrial Revolution and the following Great Depression. Both of these events taught our parents or grandparents that they couldn't trust in the supportive nature of the universe. They learned that only the owner of the factory could be trusted to provide you with a steady income. Read the notice that follows: We are in a new era.

This is the era of the personal fortune. In this time and place we can all find the quick way to financial well-being if we have the courage to declare our independence from our inner fears. In the Labrynth movie, our heroine Sarah realizes that she can do whatever she chooses with these words to the evil goblin king, "you have no power over me." At that the labrynth, castle, and all of the other illusions fall apart into oblivion. When you make the effort to move past the obstacles of illusion you will find the freedom and independence your heart knows you deserve.
