Spell it Right

By Virginia R. Sanders

How many websites have you visited that had blatant spelling or grammatical errors?

As owners of online businesses, we need to understand who makes up our audience.

The standard educational demographic profile of the online consumers is a college educated male between the ages of 18-35.

This demographic profile is changing. The Internet has seen important changes in the profile of today's online consumer.

Results from the Yankee Group's Interactive Consumer Survey indicates that the face of the average online consumer no longer reflects the stereotype of the "Internet geek"

Some of the trends identified in this Report include the following:
*33% of today's online U.S. households have been online for less than one year,
*60% of these new home-based Internet subscribers are women.

The reality is that this consumer has a multitude of websites from which he/she can purchase his latest gizmo.

After all that effort that you exerted to build a fabulous site and attracting lots of excellent traffic, It would it be a shame if your visitors found typing mistakes, grammatical errors and broken links?

Mistakes like these are very easy to make, especially if you're the one writing the material. it seems that the harder you look for errors in your copy the least likely you are to find them.

Have a family member or friend check your website. Even some of the "Big Dogs have typos and grammatical errors.

You do no want this consumer to click swiftly from your site because you have made a spelling error, or you have used one of these two pronouns interchangeably (i.e. you're (you are) versus your (your car).

Check your pages for errors and misspelled words. Create dynamic graphics that keep the consumer interested and on your site.

Make sure you check your information twice and then check it again. Remember if you spell it right you might just sell it
