Say Goodnight to your Old Pillow

By Katie Curtis

One of the most important elements of a good night's sleep is comfort. If you are not comfortable, how are you supposed to relax and sleep well? Have you ever considered buying a new pillow? There have been some significant advances in pillow design over the years, and there is likely one out there to help bring you the sleep you deserve.

In my humble opinion, the foam pillow is by far the least comfortable pillow ever created. I had one for a number of years and, coincidentally, I didn't sleep very well at the time. They seem to lose their ability to expand over time, and the foam chunks tend to become very compressed.

I have always been a big fan of the classic feather pillow. I had one when I was a wee girl, and I can't recall a time in my life when I slept better than I did back then. I developed some allergies when I was child, and our family doctor advised my parents not to let me sleep with feather pillows. My allergies went away, but so did the quality of sleep I was getting.

Have you ever slept on a rubber pillow? I would be surprised if anyone could sleep on those horrible things! I was wrong about the foam pillows. These are undoubtedly the worst. They do not breathe in any way, and they have very little give. These pillows are generally used in hospitals and nursing homes due to their durability.

I have heard good things about the molded foam pillows. I have not personally tried one, so I ought to refrain from commenting. I will note, however, that my Mother stopped snoring when she got one and my father was very happy. Results may vary.

I have been sleeping soundly on a water pillow for a couple years now. My Chiropractor recommended it to me, after I had a car accident and was left with significant neck pain. I was simply amazed at the relief it provided! It works by evenly supporting your head regardless of the position you are in. I was able to fully relax and have better sleep because I was comfortable in every sleeping position.

If you are having difficulty sleeping or staying comfortable during the night, why not consider changing your pillow type? My new pillow has does wonders for my quality of sleep. Imagine what such a change could do for you!
